Couple Therapy

in person Tacoma | online WA & UT

Get to the root of your issues & learn how to communicate.

Because having the same argument is pointless.

You’re tired of having the same argument on repeat and you miss the intimacy you used to have.

Your fights sound the same and quite frankly, you’ve heard it all before. Adding on a household and kids doesn’t make it any easier. You used to spend more time together and actually enjoy it. Now your relationship feels like a slog because it is. It’s repetitive, and what you’re repeating isn’t fun; it’s getting old.

Connection between the two of you used to be easy and fun. Let’s help you get back to the reason why you picked each other to begin with.

You know that fundamentally, you love your partner. You picked them for a reason. They compliment you and balance you out. Whether it’s simply due to not having enough time to spend together (hello kids!) or you’ve gotten stuck in a rut, it’s time to fix that so that things don’t get any worse between the two of you. You want to be proactive about taking care of your relationship and look forward to coming home to them—again!

Happy couple

How It Works

Couple Therapy is where you tackle your issues head-on.

We’ll Identify Your Problems, Specifically

Therapy with me is structured and focused. First I will ask you what brings you into therapy. Together, we will explore what, exactly, your problem is, from each of your perspectives. I will give you my input as well, as I watch the two of you interact and listen to your stories. Getting very specific about what the problem and making sure that we are all working on the same problem is fundamental to successful couple therapy.

Set Specific & Realistic Goals, with a Timeline

I will ask you what you want most of out of therapy, and by when you would like to meet your goals. I want to help you graduate out of therapy as quickly as possible—that doesn’t mean it can’t take a while—simply that the time we spend in therapy is with one goal in mind, always, and that we don’t waste any time.

You Show Me What You’re Struggling With

Too often, therapists and clients waste precious time by talking about their issues, rather than working through them as they’re happening. You will spend most of your time in therapy talking to each other, with my help. That way we kill many birds with one stone—you are always practicing better communication, working through real issues you’re currently having, I am ccan see you’re still struggling, and you get my coaching in the moment. Therapy is where you get realistic practice for game time. We practice for real.

Create an Owner’s Manual for Each Other

I don’t just give you general communication skills. I give you the skills needed to communicate with your partner, by teaching you their body language signals and exploring with their input which combination of words and touch feel most comforting to them. You will memorize an “owner’s manual” for your partner so that you know how to avoid unnecessarily hurting them and also calm them quickly and effectively.

Create an Owner’s Manual for Each Other

Everyone should come with one of these, right? If you know the right questions to ask and what to pay attention to, you can easily navigate conversations without conflict and learn how to course correct before you’re in a fight.

While the process is often intense and challenging, the results are profound. Many couples experience emotional breakthroughs and a renewed sense of connection by the end of their marriage intensive. Whether you're seeking to save your marriage, repair after infidelity, or simply gain a better understanding of yourselves and each other, couple intensives offer a powerful opportunity for accelerated growth and healing.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Couples intensives benefit people who want rapid change and are willing to put in the effort. This isn’t a place where you or your partner “get fixed,” or for those who are making any sort of concrete plans to end their relationship (i.e. dividing assets, divorce attorney, etc.). Intensives are about putting your relationship first, requiring accountability from both partners, a belief in your ability to change together, and a willingness to dive in with both feet. Schedule an intake appointment with me here to get started and make sure an intensive is right for you.

  • Yes, relationships with a history of DV or IPV may be fit for an intensive and are welcome in this process. If there are current or recent episodes, it may require additional screening and cost for screening upfront. I’m always willing to connect and answer further questions, so feel free to schedule an intake appointment here.

  • Intensives can be as short as 3-4 hours and as long as 1 or 2 days. I also offer mini-intensives that are 4 hours long. This can look like the 1st session in the morning, followed by lunch, and the 2nd session or an entire 4-hour session with a bathroom break. My schedule is flexible and I’m willing to make things work with whatever your timeline or interest is.

  • No. Couples intensives are held in person in my office over the weekend and online for residents of Washington and Utah. You must be located in WA/UT at the time of service.

    My office is located at:

  • I am not an In Network provider with any insurance.

You will need to check with your insurance regarding Out of Network benefits. You are responsible for the fee whether your insurance reimburses you or not. I will give you a superbill upon request, diagnosing Z63.0-relationship issues and billing service code 90847, family therapy with the patient present. Check with your insurance company regarding reimbursement for those specific diagnosis and service codes. I do not diagnose individuals when doing couples therapy.

Choosing to invest in an intensive isn't just about the money — it's about showing up for your relationship in a big way. Trust me, the payoff is worth much more than dollars and cents. You'll come out of it with a deeper connection, clearer communication, and a renewed sense of partnership that can carry you through whatever life throws your way.

  • Yes. Before getting started, we'll have a 100 minute intake appointment to ensure we're the right fit and to prepare you for the intensive by discussing any specific concerns you have, as well as developing goals for the intensive. Cases with more severe distress, including DV/IPV, may require an additional assessment. Before the intensive, I am happy to consult with current medical or mental health providers, including current couple therapists, individual therapists, psychiatrists, etc. Schedule an intake appointment here.

If you do not want to schedule an intake appointment before your intensive and prefer to just dive in, I am happy to work with you without an intake appointment. It is not required.

  • If you would like to continue working with me on a weekly or biweekly basis, I am happy to do so if I have availability on my calendar. If I do not have space to see you, I will offer referrals for a therapist in your area and can give them a recap of what you’ve worked on once you establish a relationship with a weekly therapist.

  • Yes! I am happy to coordinate with your weekly therapist before and after your intensive about what you’re currently working on and a follow-up on what you both accomplished during your intensive.

Save your relationship while you still have a chance.
